1 in 4 children in America grow up without learning how to read.
We believe everyone should have the chance to reach their full potential.

Jenny’s Jungle Library Installation at Women’s Resource Center
We renovated a space in a domestic violence shelter community room to empower women and children through literacy. Children’s, young adult, and Spanish books tucked nicely into their new homes. We have received large donations of children’s books from elementary schools from around the county. We want to inspire our recipients to model our libraries and reading spaces in their own homes.
An open space renovated into a beautiful library and reading room for mother/child activities to assist low level literacy, music and movement, and life enrichment. Space matters.
This dream team made hours fly by, working side-by-side to create a one of a kind library in a community room for survivors of domestic violence. We love creating spaces for children to explore, dream, find comfort, and become inspired and empowered in their lives. Finding a book they love is key to keeping them engaged and motivated to read.
Our Board Members take pride in volunteering and participating in our library installations. Having their boots on the ground so to speak, offers a unique perspective and insight into the challenges and rewards of a working non-profit organization.
We provide literature on the function of a reading space, how to use it and why resources like books are invaluable to life enrichment. Taking time to explain to staff on how we organize the books and ideas on how to use the space with their clients is important to our mission. We are always excited to hear about new and creative ways organizations use their libraries.
Our hope is recipients model the reading spaces in their own homes.
Empowering women with positive inspirations to motivate and inspire them to keep moving in their lives.
Opening up a book and reading out loud together, looking at the images or discussing the content motivates the children to keep coming back. Board member, Cami Eiskamp models reading and discussion with a recipient of our library installation.
We hope the women find hope, refuge, comfort, and empowerment in our libraries.
Dual language is a reality in many of our reading spaces. With a lot of community assistance, we provided books in Spanish for recipients to read out loud with their children and on their own.

Jenny’s Jungle Program-We Inspire and Empower Women and Children with Literacy
We delivered Jenny’s Jungle reading spaces to Home Start Maternity Division for women and children to enjoy reading together. This was our first hands-on collaboration both installing and providing a reading space for women. The mothers work together with program leaders towards the goal of self-sufficiency. Our donation included bookcases, stuffed animals and additional decor to bring hope and joy to moms and their little ones as they prepare for their future. Great adventures begin with a book!
Jenny's Jungle was placed in three YWCA San Diego shelters for children to have a safe, comfortable space to explore, imagine and dream through reading. We hear kids, moms (and dads) are enjoying these special areas.
Delivery of over 400 books for Jenny's Jungle reading areas to be installed in three locations of the Becky's House Domestic Violence Shelters through YWCA San Diego.
Promoting Jenny's Jungle Book Drive on local news station KUSI San Diego for book drives throughout the county collecting books for three dedicated children's reading areas to support Becky's House Domestic Violence shelters at YWCA San Diego.

Creating a space to read
As children sit cozied next to their mothers, a new world is opening as together they turn the pages, laughing and growing more excited with each turn. Where will it lead them on their journey in life? It's all new and fresh, ready to explore the unknown, their hope grows and their spirits take flight with each adventure.
